Xavier's Dream: An X-Men RPG [Wednesday May 17, 2006]

thecutepolice
[ mood | hopeful ]

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We read comics, do you? Xavier’s Dream is looking for players who follow and enjoy x-universe comics to roleplay the lives of our favorite outcast superheroes. This game focuses on the X-men (as opposed to academy students, the brotherhood, or any other teams), as they fight to protect the world from evil mutants, and fellow mutants from the world, run an academy for gifted youngsters, and find a sense of normalcy as they live out Xavier's Dream.

Okay you said X-men, but which ones? The universe we’re focusing on is comics, specifically 616 universe. The game began immediately following the events of Uncanny X-men 293, and is a strongly canon based AU from that point.
Who can apply? Players 18 and over who read comics, and are willing to read x-men comics for plot and characterization research.
What characters are you looking for? Beast, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Shadowcat, Wolfsbane</s>
What characters should I not apply for? OCs, Telepaths, Villains. Check here for full restricted characters list.
How can I contact the mods for an app or more questions? Check out Xavier’s Dream and/or email us at xaviers_dream@hotmail.com

Insect Queen [Monday Apr 17, 2006]

monkeyarcher
[ mood | accomplished ]

(we haven't had one of these in a while, so I thought I might add one myself. And I thought I would put in an entry about a character who would probably never otherwise get recognition)

Insect Queen
secret identity - Lana Lang (pre-crisis of course)

first appearance - Superboy 124, October 1965

Insect Queen

origin
After rescuing an alien visitor trapped under a fallen tree, Lana was given, as her reward, a ring with biogenetic powers. Later, she discovered that she could use it to gain insect-abilities. She turned into a human firefly and a grasshopper girl. She grew insect antennae to send and receive "vibratory" messages and turned into a centipede. She decided to use her new power to begin a career as a super-hero. Wearing a stretchable costume and a mask, the Insect Queen of Smallville started foiling crime. One day, she heard an emergency on the radio then wrapped Clark Kent in a cocoon, exposing her own identity as Insect Queen but sure that Superboy would have to expose his identity by bursting free to answer the emergency, . Clark fliew out the window, while still in the cocoon. Using super-speed he performed his rescue and returned to the cocoon. Lana saw Clark climbing out wearing butterfly wings and believed his story that he grew them in her cocoon, and that's how it flew, not due to him being Superboy.
super-powers
Using her alien bio-ring, Insect Queen can take on the characteristics of any species of insect, also covering all insect-like anthropods, like spiders and lobsters (SB 127). At first the ring responded to her desires of the moment, but once she decided on a super-hero career, she began to command the ring to give her specific insect-powers (SB 124). At first she thought she could only assume the characteristics of a particular species of insect only once (SB 124), but later, the alien returned to tell her that she could use each form only once each 24 hours (SB 127).
Insect Queen has turned into a human firefly, grasshopper girl, a centipede, dragonfly, ant girl, bee girl, beetle girl, moth larva, spider-girl, mosquito girl, caterpillar, water-skater girl, damsel fly, lobster-girl, tent worm, queen termite, ant lioness, she-shield bug, cicada-girl, horsefly, click beetle, moth-girl, butterfly girl, foam bug, tent caterpillar, human fly, small-sized leaf-cutting bee and a sphinx moth.
weaknesses - Insect Queen can only assume the form of one particular species of insect each 24-hour period (SB 127). As her power is not natural and dependant upon a device, if the bio-ring falls off her finger while in insect form, she is frozen in that form until she puts it on again (AD 355).
(this information was glommed from the wonderful web-site Legion Roll Call, although I wish they had an entry for Infectious Lass.)

introduction, of sorts, I guess [Saturday Apr 1, 2006]

monkeyarcher
[ mood | calm ]

since others seem to be introducing themselves, I guess I can do a little bit of the same.

Hi.
My name is Edward.
I have been a comic book reader since childhood, and over the years have deleloped a lot of favorite characters, many of them female. Wonder Woman, She-Hulk, Infectious Lass, Dazzler, Batgirl (Babs, of course), Tigra, Fly-Girl, Platinum ("Tina") of the Metal Men, Promethea, Black Canary...the list goes on and on.
There is also a fascination with the idea of female heroes, watching how they are handled. Sometimes very well, many times somewhat embarassingly, the history of the female hero holds my interest. (ditto for the female villian.)
I run a small community of my own, geekmakers, which may be of interest to some. We are small, but steadily growing. All's welcome.
My brain is filled with an unusual amount of geek info (darnit, I with that "Beat the Geeks" was still on the air), so if I can, I am more than willing to help out with questions or whatnot. In the future I might even be closer to useful once I get the house finished and my books all unpacked.
well, hope that didn't bore too many people.
Have a good weekend.

Supergirl-(Kara Zor-El) --1st appearance: Action Comics #252 (1959).1st Modern Age appearance: Superman/Batman #8 (2004)

Kara Zor-El, better known as Supergirl, is the only surviving woman from the now-dead planet of Krypton. Her only surviving blood relative is Kal-El, her first cousin, who is the only surviving man from Krypton. He is better known througout the universe as Superman."The Girl Who Fell To Earth", as her foe Darkseid refers to her, did indeed fall to earth inside of a spacecraft built by her father, the Kryptonian scientist, Zor-El. He knew that Krypton was doomed to explode, as theorized by his brother, Jor-El.

Knowing that Jor-El was sending his infant son Kal-El to safety on Earth, Zor-El similarly planned to send his teenage daughter Kara to Earth as well. Things did not turn out as planned, however, as Kara's ship was encased in a fragment of the dead planet, and made a much slower journey to earth, arriving decades after her cousin fell to Earth. Her ship splashed down in Gotham Harbor, attracting the attention of the Batman, who discovers the ship empty. The young Kara, naked and alone in a strange, alien city, believes herself in danger and began destroying things with her heat vision and super-strength...

Howdy [Thursday Mar 30, 2006]

unclephil2k
Hiya, all. I figured i'd put in an introductory post, since everyone else is. I've been a huge comics fan all my life, but my faves usually end up being Super-Heroines. i'm a hugehugeHUGE Wonder Woman fan, and a big fan of She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Spider-Woman (just got through with the Essentials TBP), Elektra, Birds of Prey, Power Girl....and I could go on & on. I was always a big Dakota North fan (yeah, i'm the one)...and I see that they're finally reviving the characyer at Marvel later this year! Yay!

But honestly, I think my favorite comics character ever has gotta be Lois Lane. She's evolved over the years into a complex character with tons of unused potential. I really think she should have her own solo book again, frankly. I can't be the only one that'd buy it, i'm sure.

Ummmmm....that's it. Bye!

Weapons: Power Bow, Blade Blaster
Gear: Wrist Communicator, Power Morpher with Power Coin, Pink Shark Cycle
Zords: Pterodactyl Dinozord, Firebird Thunderzord, Crane Ninja Zord, White Shogun Zord (shared with White Ranger)
Kimberly was one of the five Rangers originally chosen by Zordon to protect the Earth against Rita Repulsa. She was given the Pterodactyl Power Coin and ability to morph into the Pink Ranger. Once ditzy and materialistic, Kimberly has evolved into a strong, confident, and caring person. A kind and compassionate soul, Kim cares a great deal about her friends, and will not take kindly to anyone messing with them. Kimberly left the Power Rangers to pursue a life as a gymnast by training with Gunthar Schmidt in Florida to compete in the Pan Global Games. To Kimberly went the Pterodactyl Power Coin, giving her the power of the Pterodactyl, and control of the Pterodactyl Dinozord. When Kim lost her powers after Rito Revolto's attack on Angel Grove, she gained new powers with the Crane Power Coin given to her by Ninjor on the Rangers' journey to the Temple of Power. Pink Ranger's power weapon is the Power Bow, which can shoot either normal or energized arrows. Her weapon combined with the others to form the Power Blaster. As Pink Ranger, Kim gained enhanced strength, speed, and durability as well as limited energy projection.

Dazzler [Wednesday Mar 29, 2006]

ll_ll_ll_ll

Real name: Alison Blaire
Former aliases: The Disco Dazzler
Identity: Publicly known
Occupation: Singer, actress, dancer, gladiator
Legal status: Citizen of the United States with no criminal record
Place of birth: Gardendale, Long Island, New York
Marital status: Single
Known relatives: Carter (father, deceased), Katherine (alias Barbara London, mother), Bella (grandmother), Lois London (step-sister), Nick Brown (step-father)
Base of operations: (current) "Mojoworld" (in another dimension), (former) New York City; or mobile, usually in Los Angeles, California; later Professor Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, Salem Center, Westchester County, New York State
Group affiliation: (former) Gladiators, X-Men
First appearance: X-MEN (first series) #130

History: Alison Blaire is a mutant whose superhuman powers first manifested themselves in her late adolescence. As an aspiring singer, Blaire was performing at a high school dance when her ability to transform sound into light first surfaced. Upon graduation she set out to make a name for herself in the entertainment world using her light powers to create spectacular effects as she sang. She used the stage name The Dazzler. Virtually no one knew that Blaire was a mutant; almost everyone in her audiences assumed that her lighting effects were created through technological means. Although Blaire had no intention of using her special powers to fight crime on a regular basis, time and again she found herself using them to thwart the criminal activities of gangsters and renegade superhumans.

Eventually Blaire moved to the Los Angeles area from New York City, and formed a romantic and professional relationship with Hollywood celebrity Roman Nekoboh. Nekoboh produced a motion picture (which was never released) featuring Blaire, and persuaded her to reveal publicly that she was a superhumanly powerful mutant. The revelation backfired, stirring up renewed public hostility against mutants. Blaire was virtually blacklisted in the entertainment industry, and had to take primarily low-paying obscure jobs in order to continue her singing career.

Blaire sought and received training in the use of her superhuman abilities from the mutant X-Men. As a result, she is now far more adept in the use of her powers than she was in the past. Dazzler has recently been spending her time in the Mojoverse with her companion Longshot. The two have been placed as the rulers there and are attempting to build their world into a much more fair and hospitable place. When last seen, Dazzler had decided to take care of the X-Babies, miniature versions of the X-Men created by Mojo.

Hey I just decided to join. This place seems interesting, I like the character profile a day thing. I know I was looking at the user-info and saw the Pink Power Ranger(kimberly) pic. She was my favorite growing up, I'm kind of ashamed to admit it now, but hey what kid growing up in the 90s did not LOVE the Power Rangers?

Starfire
Real Name: Koriand’r
Other Alias: Kory Anders
Known Relatives: Myand’r (father, deceased), Luand’r (mother, deceased), Komand’r (sister, previously believed deceased)*, Ryand’r (brother, alive), Karras (first husband, deceased), General Phy’zzon (second husband, deceased)
Occupation: Adventurer
Former Occupations: Princess of Tamaran, slave, supermodel
Group Affiliation: Titans
Base of Operations: San Francisco
First Appearance: DC Comics Presents #26 (October 1980)
Created by: George Perez and Marv Wolfman
---
Princess Koriand’r of the planet Tamaran was given up to slavery in order to keep her world free. In an experiment at the hands of the Psions, she gained the ability to absorb energy and project it in destructive “starbolts.” Escaping captivity, she found herself on Earth, where she used these powers, her natural flight ability, and her childhood warrior training as a member of the New Teen Titans.

Her years with the Titans encompassed a modeling career as Kory Anders, a long-term relationship with Dick Grayson (a.k.a. Nightwing), and a constant struggle against her warrior nature. During this time they opposed her sister Komand’r’s plans of conquest a number of times. Kory was forced into a brief marriage of state to prevent a Tamaranian civil war, a power struggle ultimately resolved when a wiser Komand’r came to rule a unified Tamaran. Starfire’s husband, however, was killed.

Ultimately, Koriand’r’s relationship with Dick broke down as she chose to embrace her Tamaranian heritage. She returned to Tamaran, married General Phy’zzon, and participated in the evacuation of her homeworld when it was destroyed (New Titans #128, 1994).

Tragically, only a short time after her people relocated, New Tamaran’s sun was destroyed, and Starfire was the only one on the planet to escape the destruction of their second home (The Final Night Preview, 1996). She adventured in space for a time, then returned to Earth, working with the Titans again. When she learned of a band of survivors, she helped them invade Karna, the Gordanian homeworld, an action which was resolved diplomatically by the Titans’ Tempest, allowing the Tamaranians to settle there peacefully. Koriand’r remained there as their leader (Titans #16–18, 2000). Shortly afterward, Karna was destroyed by Imperiex (Our Worlds At War: Secret Files, 2001). Koriand’r and her brother survived aboard the flagship of the defense fleet. It is not known how many other Tamaranians were off-world at the time.

Starfire has returned to Earth, the only home she has left.
